The 50-year old plaintiff agreed to the settlement last month according to his attorney, Raymond Gill of Gill & Chamas in Woodbridge, NJ. The case settled after mediation with retired Superior Judge Nicholas Stroumtsos, who heads a mediation firm in Roseland, according to Gill.
The accident took place when the plaintiff was driving in Edison, NJ in 2016. The defendant was traveling in the opposite direction at an excessive speed when he lost control of his car in snowy, icy conditions. The car jumped the median and struck the plaintiff’s car head on.
The plaintiff sustained herniated discs and a right shoulder injury, which required multiple surgeries and epidural injections, Gill said.
According to his attorney, the plaintiff is no longer able to able to do physical work and is now largely confined to performing office work.
The lawsuit was filed in Middlesex County and a trial date had not been set.
